On August 10, 2020 the New Jersey Supreme Court issued its opinion in State v. Andrews. The Court ruled that a court order mandating that Defendant Andrews disclose his cell phone password did not violate his Fifth Amendment right against self incrimination. Justice LaVecchia dissented against what she viewed as forced disclosure of mental thoughts. This issue is yet to be ruled upon by the United States Supreme Court. The full opinion can be found on the New Jersey Courts website.
